National & International Research Funding Opportunities

The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), as the main funding body in Turkey, aims to inform potential researchers about the various funding opportunities in Turkey.  Here are the funding opportunuties for international researchers:

Horizon Europe - The European Research Council (ERC) Grants

Scientific excellence is the sole criterion on the basis of which ERC frontier research grants are awarded. Applications can be made in any field of research. Individual research teams led by a single Principal Investigator (PI) can apply for funding. PIs from anywhere in the world can apply for an ERC grant.

ERC offers three different funding opportunities for the researchers depending on the date that they have earned their PhD degree:

1. Starting Grant (StG)

2. Consolidator Grant (CoG)

3. Advanced Grant (AdG)

Synergy Grant calls are now also a part of ERC Calls. The purpose of Synergy Grants is to bring two to four researchers and address ambitious research questions using their complementary skills, knowledge and resources in unprecedented ways.

4. Synergy Grant (SyG)

ERC also offers additional funding only for ERC Grantees:

5. Proof of Concept (PoC)

Horizon Europe - Marie Skłodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-IF)

The Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) of Horizon Europe provide grants for all stages of research careers and encourage transnational, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary mobility. Postdoctoral Fellowships fund researchers looking to enhance their career development and prospects by working abroad. All research areas can be funded. For more information please click here.

Bilateral S&T Cooperations

Along with the EU Framework Programs, all international bilateral and multilateral scientific and technological collaborations established and conducted by Turkey through TÜBİTAK are also shared in quality and quantity via the Interactive World Map (please see International Bilateral Cooperations).

The Interactive World Map, while providing a comparative comparison of Turkey’s most important parameters over 120 cooperating countries, reflects Turkey's international research and innovation cooperation activities together with the relating county. On the Map page, many data, such as R&D expenditures, scientific publications, patent numbers, foreign trade data and open calls of each country and our country meet with website users.

National Funding Opportunities - TÜBİTAK Science Fellowships and Grant Programs (BIDEB)

TÜBİTAK has been providing support for scientific and technological research with the aim of assisting national development by providing many kinds of fellowships and grants through BIDEB. These grants involve creating opportunities for developing the capacities of scientists and researchers, rewarding outstanding success, and granting national and international scholarships.
